The opening track “Spirits” debuts the EP with high energy gusto, layering bouncy 808 bass over a 2-step swing and classic 808 drums, teasing us with the possibility of erupting into full breakbeat mania. “Free fallin’’'continues on the same trajectory in a blend of electro and garage-inspired rhythms, complete with a wobbly bass-line and vocal chops.
In “Eternity” Sattle slows it right down to a half-time beat with warm pads and cinematic arrangement guiding the movement with dub-inspired instrumentation.
Adequately titled “Playing PS1 in 2023” rounds off the EP with a moog bass as the foundation, and an emotive chord progression inspired by the island’s landscape.
